Operated by 2nd Amersham Common Scouts. Initially serving Old Amersham, Amersham on the Hill, Amersham Common & Chesham Bois. From 1994 had a reciprocal agreement with Chesham Scout Post to deliver within own areas cards bearing the others stamps. From 2000 merged with Chesham - see Amersham & Chesham Post.

2nd Amersham Common is a Group within the Misbourne Valley Scout District in the Scout County of Buckinghamshire.

1990 (1st December) - 1994

1990 issue

Type 1, printed on 52x26mm self-adhesive labels in sheets of 24. Backing sheet imperforate. The charge made varied from 12p to 15p over this period. (A 1992 reprint was made but is indistinguishable from the original printing).


1995 (1st December)

1995 issue

Type 2, 32x32mm, designed by Julia Pearman (Venture Scout), printed by IPA, Asheridge Road, Chesham on gummed paper in sheets of 6 (2 rows of 3), line rouletted just under 5. A charge of 15p was made. A first day cover was produced on a specially designed envelope.



1996

Type 3, 32x32mm, designed by Julia Pearman (Venture Scout), printed by IPA, Asheridge Road, Chesham on gummed paper in sheets of 6 (2 rows of 3), line rouletted just under 5. A charge of 15p was made.



1997

Type 4, 32x32mm, designed by Julia Pearman (Venture Scout), printed by IPA, Asheridge Road, Chesham on gummed paper in sheets of 6 (2 rows of 3), line rouletted just under 5. A charge of 15p was made.



1998 (11th December)

1998 issue

Type 5, 32x32mm, designed by Ann Haynes, printed by IPA, Asheridge Road, Chesham on gummed paper in sheets of 6 (2 rows of 3), line rouletted just under 5. A charge of 15p was made. A first day cover was produced on a specially designed envelope.



1998 (31st October) - 1999

1999 issue

Type 6, 32x32mm, reissue of 1995/6/7 issues in a strip of three different designs by Julia Pearman (Venture Scout), printed by IPA, Asheridge Road, Chesham on gummed paper in sheets of 6 (2 rows of 3), line rouletted just under 5. Originally produced in 1998 for inclusion in the special booklets mentioned below, these then went on sale in the normal way in 1999. Single stamps cannot be distinguished from the previous years issues. A charge of 15p was made. A souvenir cover marked "1st Day of Issue 25th November 1999" was issued on a specially designed envelope, but only carried a single stamp.



Souvenir Booklets in 1998

Five souvenir booklets were produced in 1998 - issued on 31st October to commemmorate the 40th anniversary of the Amersham Philatelic Society. Each booklet contained a sheet of 6 Scout stamps and a block of 4 x 2nd class Machin stamps as per the example below.

The five souvenir booklets differed as each contained a sheet of 6 of one year's issue, either 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 or 1998/9 as illustrated.
