Type 2, designed by ? and printed by ? in sheets of 30 (6 rows of 5) on gummed, imperforate paper. A first day cover was made available in the shape of a Royal Mail cover with the Cottingham stamp cancelled with P1 in violet at left & 19p BPO stamp cancelled Hull Philatelic Counter 10 Dec 88 at right. There is nothing to indicate whether the Cottingham stamp was there initially or added later.

Type C1, cachet intended for use on "bulk" postings instead of stamps.
