Operated by the 23rd Sea Scout Group alone only from 1982 to 1992, serving Didcot town. Joined in a reciprocal exchange agreement by 1st Harwell, 1st Hagbourne & 1st Chilton from 1993 onwards and area extended to the whole of Didcot Scout District, taking in Blewbury, Hagbourne, Harwell & Chilton. 23rd Didcot, 1st Harwell & 1st Harbourne are all groups in the Didcot District within the Scout County of Oxfordshire.

It should be noticed that the last "S" in "SCOUTS" is upright from 1998-2000, inverted from 2001-2002, upright again in 2003-2004 and missing from 2005 onwards.

The compiler has no knowledge of any significance that could be given to the placement of the asterisks and other symbols at the bottom of these cancellations.

In general the earlier cachets are not dated (other than some showing year only) but may bear handstamped FIRST DAY/OF ISSUE with a star (Type C11), or LAST DAY/OF POSTING with a holly logo (Type C12), in same colour as the main cachet Many of the cachets have been used in several years with apparently random use of colours as well. The following list cannot pretend to be exhaustive but represents those seen by various cataloguers.
