In 1982 operated by 4th Finchley scouts covering N2, N3, N12 & N20 districts. In 1983 joined by 22nd Finchley, 6th Friern Barnet & 2nd Golders Green & area extended to include NW11 as well. It is believed that this service terminated in the late 1980s.

During the 1990s images appeared on the internet that indicated 15th Finchley scouts had restarted the post. No details available as yet.

These groups are all part of the Finchley, Friern Barnet and Golders Green District in the Scout County of Greater London North.

1982

1982 issue

Type 1, 37x51mm, designed by ? & printed by ? in sheets of ? (? rows of ?), imperforate but with the stamp borders indicated by a line of dots (except on the outer sheet margins).



1983

1983 issue 1983 free sample

Type 2, 31x51mm, designed by ? & printed by ? in sheets of 36 (9 rows of 4), line rouletted about 10. The sheet has no margins and all four edges are imperforate giving eight different part perforated/part imperforate variations. Publicity copies were overtyped "F R E E C O P Y" in black. A souvenir cover, dated 11 DEC 1983, with the typed inscription "FIRST DAY OF DELIVERY" was issued. A second souvenir cover with both 1982 & 1983 stamps also inscribed "FIRST DAY OF DELIVERY" was also produced but this cover did not include the year in the cancellation, being franked 18 DEC near the 1982 stamp and 11 DEC next to the 1983 issue.
