Melksham's Beavers and Scouts make festive delivery
Members of Melksham’s Beavers and Scouts troop this week delivered more than 1,000 Christmas cards around the town. The Scouts had set up their own festive postal service, with special post boxes put up in the Town Hall, Tourist Information Centre, and other shops around town. Stamps were available for cards for the Melksham and Bowerhill areas, with all proceeds going to the Scout hut fund. The last post was on Saturday, and all the cards were taken to the Scout hut to be sorted on Sunday. More than 1,500 cards were posted in total, with around 40 Beavers, Scouts and their friends and families giving up their time to sort the mail. The cards were then delivered around the town by teams of eager volunteers. The Scouts also delivered cards for the Mayor of Melksham, as well as some from Duncan Hames, MP for Chippenham.

Melksham Scouts Christmas Post
Following on from the success of the last two years, Melksham Scout Group will be again running their own Christmas post service. Christmas Card Post Boxes are now in place around town, for you to post your Christmas cards for Melksham, Berryfield and Bowerhill. Please also place your donation in the box. The cost is still ONLY 20p per card, less than ½ price of a 2nd class stamp. As last year the Scouts have had their own stamps made too. The last posting date is 11th December, cards will be delivered on the weekend of 13th and 14th December. All the sorting will be done by the beavers, cubs, scouts (and parents, grandparents) on Sat 13th December in the Scout Hut which is turned into a temporary sorting office for the morning. If you are not sure of the address on the front of the envelope, please put a return address on the back. Christmas Card Post Boxes are now in the following venues, with many thanks to the local businesses and organisations for hosting a box.
