Stalybridge
Greater Manchester, England

Operated by 7th Stalybridge scouts & cubs covering Stalybridge, Newton & Matley. Each year a few sheets of stamps and miniature sheets were printed onto a different colour paper (usually blue/pink) and presented to the winners of the stamp design competition on First Day Covers. Examples of these are not believed to exist mint or used on cover and were not really intended as postally valid items and are therefore outside the scope of this catalogue. FDCs of all years usually have the cachet C1 somewhere on the envelope (in black except for green in 1990 only & red in 1992 only). Dates given are those for the FDCs & the first collection date, stamps may have been on sale prior to these dates. Did not operate after 1998.

7th Stalybridge Scouts are part of the Tame Valley District within the Scout County of Greater Manchester East.

Although it is almost impossible to distinguish between the pictures of imperforate or line rouletted stamps they are still illustrated separately to emphasise the fact that both exist on some occasions and not on others. Outer sheet margins are often wider than the normal - eg see 1990 overprints illustration. Some illustrations look off-white, the paper is actually white.
