Operated by 1st Tiptree Scout Group. Serving the area Tiptree, Tolleshunt Knights, Tudwick, Inworth & Nessing (at a charge of only 5p in early years, 10p later) and other parts of the East Essex District for 10p per card at all times. Exchanges via the East Essex HQ also took place with local groups from other Districts at various times for various periods.

1st Tiptree Scout Group is part of the East Essex District within the Scout County of Essex.

Types 1 and 2, 60x30mm & 30x30mm respectively, designed by M. J. Southall (Beacon Hill SL) & printed by Barham & Moore, Chelmsford in sheets of 30 (6 rows of 4x5p+1x10p) line rouletted about 5. First day covers were issued on specially designed envelopes.

Types 3 and 4, 30x30mm & 60x30mm respectively, designed by M. J. Southall (DSL) & printed by Barham & Moore, Chelmsford in sheets of 42 (6 rows of 5x5p+2x10p) line rouletted about 5. First day covers were issued on specially designed envelopes.

Types 5 and 6, 30x30mm & 60x30mm respectively, designed by M. J. Southall (DSL) from designs supplied by Wilkins Jam Ltd & printed in offset litho by M.R.C. Print Ltd, Maldon in sheets of 14 (2 rows of 5x5p+2x10p) line rouletted about 10. First day covers were issued on specially designed envelopes.



1986 (December 6th)

Types 7 and 8, 30x30mm & 60x30mm respectively, designed by Trevor Churchill (SL) and printed electrostatically by East Essex District line rouletted about 5. 5p in sheets of 15 (3 rows of 5) imperf right & bottom, & 10p in vertical strips of 6 rouletted horizontally between stamps only. Various perforation combinations therefore exist. First day covers were issued on plain white envelopes.

Types 9 and 10, 30x30mm & 60x30mm respectively, designed by Mark Shadbolt (cub) and Jon Piper (Scout) and printed in offset litho by Barking College forme rouletted about 7. Sheet layout had several rows of 7x5p at the top and the bottom two rows contained 3x10p each with a further 10p at rightangles on the right. This gives three sets of "two 5p vert se tenant with one 10p" and one 10p with a sideways 5p se tenant. Left, right & bottom sides of the sheet were imperf (as possibly the top was?) giving a range of perforation variations. First day covers were issued on specially designed envelopes.

Types 11 to 14, 30x30mm & 60x30mm respectively, designed by Mark Shadbolt (cub) and Jon Piper (Scout) and printed in offset litho by Barking College forme rouletted about 7. Sheet layout had several rows of 7x5p at the top and the bottom two rows contained 3x10p each with a further 10p at rightangles on the right. This gives three sets of "two 5p vert se tenant with one 10p" and one 10p with a sideways 5p se tenant. Left, right & bottom sides of the sheet were imperf (as possibly the top was?) giving a range of perforation variations. Souvenir covers with this year's stamps (one shade only) to celebrate the 21st anniversary of Venture Scouting were issued on specially designed envelopes. A second souvenir cover illustrating a Tiptree Jampot was also issued with the two stamps from 1984 (wrongly marked "First Day Cover").

Sheet layout had several rows of 7x5p at the top and the bottom two rows contained 3x10p each with a further 10p at rightangles on the right. This gives three sets of "two 5p vert se tenant with one 10p" (as illustrated) and one 10p with a sideways 5p se tenant. Left, right & bottom sides of the sheet were imperf (as possibly the top was?) giving a range of perforation variations. First day covers were issued on specially designed envelopes.
