Types 1 and 2, 60mmx31mm & 30mmx31mm, types 2 & 3 of Beacon Hill overprinted as type O1 (on the 5p value only), the 10p cannot be distinguished from Beacon Hill usage unless in a pair with the 5p. Designed by Peter Horlock (PL) and Barry Martin (Scout), both of Beacon Hill, originally printed in offset litho by Barham & Moore of Chelmsford, Essex in sheets of 30 (6 strips, each of 4x5p and 1x10p se-tenant), line rouletted about 5. First day covers with both stamps se-tenant were produced on plain envelopes.
Types 3 and 4, 30mmx31mm & 60mmx31mm, designed by Michael Bishop(PL), printed in offset litho by Barham & Moore of Chelmsford, Essex in sheets of 14 (2 strips, each of 5x5p and 2x10p se-tenant), line rouletted about 5. First day covers were produced on plain envelopes.

Types 9 and 10, 30mmx30mm, designed by Ann Bishop, printed electrostatically by East Essex District in sheets of 24 (6 rows of 4), initially imperforate then later line rouletted about 7, line rouletted stamps left imperforate between stamp and bottom margin. A few first day covers were produced on plain envelopes. Re-used unoverprinted in 1987/8/9.
Types 11 and 12, 30mmx30mm, types 9 & 10 hand overprinted as type O4, designed by Ann Bishop, originally printed electrostatically by East Essex District in sheets of 24 (6 rows of 4), initially imperforate then later line rouletted about 7, line rouletted stamps left imperforate between stamp and bottom margin. First day covers were produced on plain envelopes.
Type P1, used in 1982 & 1983.
Type P2, used from 1983 to 1989. Also used as an arrival mark on cards incoming from other Essex posts.
Type C1, cachet only used in 1982.
Type C2, used throughout.
Type C3, cachet used on first day covers, 1984 onwards.
Type C4, cachet used 1988/89 on bundles of post leaving Tolleshunt D'Arcy (often only on top card in the bundle).
Type C5, cachet used 1988/89 on bundles of post leaving Goldhanger (often only on top card in the bundle).
Type O1, applied by hand in 1982.
Type O2, applied by hand in 1984.
Type O3, applied by hand in 1985.
