In later years (1998 onwards) each strip of stamp designs was printed onto several different coloured papers. To save loading time for this page only one colour is included as you access it - illustrations of the other colours are available by a click on the appropriate link by each year's entry. Also full sheet illustrations are restricted to a single colour as all sheet images are otherwise identical. Owing to the irregularity of the perforations all dimensions given are averages only. 2004 is expected to be the last year that this production method was used.

1983 (10th December)

Overprint type O1 stamps 1 to 2, Beacon Hill issues #2 (5p) & #3 (10p) overprinted with type O1.

1984 (8th December)

Overprint type O2 stamps 3 to 9, Beacon Hill issues #18-22 (5p) & #23-24 (10p) overprinted with type O2 in sheets of 14 (2 rows of 7) as illustrated below. First day covers with all seven stamps were produced on plain envelopes.

1985 - 1987

No service provided from Silver End Scouts.

1988 (12th December) - 1992

Overprint type O3 stamps 10 to 17, Beacon Hill issues #49-52 (5p) & #53-56 (10p) overprinted with type O3.

Types 18 to 19, 30x30mm, designed by ?, printed by the East Essex District in sheets of 24 (6x4), line rouletted about 10.

1993 (1st December) - 1994

Type 20, 37x49mm, drawn individually so all images in the sheet of 32 (4 rows of 8) are very slightly different. Both sides & top of sheet imperforate giving rise to 5 "imperforate one or two sides" variations. Crudely pin-perforated about 15 along the frame line. Imperforate sheets also exist.

1995

Type 21, 32x23mm, designed by ?, printed by ? in sheets of ? (? rows of ?), imperforate.

1996

Types 22 to 26, 36x44mm, designed (from left) by ?, Martin Ball, Liam Sexton, Lee Johnston & Chris Bellehewe, printed in sheets of 30 (6 rows of 5). Irregularly sewing machine perforated.

Cancellations

Type P1 - used in blue in 1983.

A coloured scan of this cancellation is still required.

Type P2 - used in 1984.

Type P3 - used from 1984-1990.

Type P4 - used from 1991-1993.

Type P5 - used from 1994-1997.

Type P6 - used from 1998-2000.

Type P7 - used from 2001-2003.

Type P8 - used from 2004 onwards. The outer border did not always appear on the envelopes - it may just be due to later wear on the handstamp.

Type P9 - used on first day covers in 1984.
